9500ish Miles Apart, Still We're Looking at the Same Moon

************

It rained almost the whole day yesterday. It was so pleasantly cool. A perfect weather to lay in bed, read some nice books and fall asleep. If only I wasn't aching all over from two hours of hardcore badminton on Saturday. Now I walk like Michael Jackson zombie.

I've been living in this house for almost three months, but never have I felt that the house has been this huge before. It takes me forever to crawl to the bathroom. And because our TV remote doesn't work, I have to drag myself off the sota and crawl like a wounded slug to the telly just to change the channel. Let alone walking up and down the stairs. Argh.
But then, for good health and perfect shape, I guess I'll have to put up with it a bit more.

On Saturday, before heading to devastating my own muscles at badminton, I popped into town to buy a new pair of trainers because I didn't bring the one I bought last year back with me. My mum has been complaining a lot about how I spend money like water, but hey, this is necessary right? I finally got myself a pair of black FILA for 22 quid. Not bad, though I wish I could get something cheaper. I also grabbed YONEX Nanospeed Alpha X for 20 pound. It's alright. I'm not a national athlete anyway therefore I see no reason why I have to get a hi-class, expensive professional one. I really miss Kumpoo rackets we have at home in Bangkok. They're so light and flexible. Sigh. I really should have brought them here with me.

English sun sets really late at night. It won't be before 10 or 11 till the sky gets really dark.
Last night I noticed this half moon hanging in the pitch-black sky. Amazing. I really miss home.

In Little House series by Laura Ingalls Wilder, the one translated into Thai by Sukhontaros, I remember Laura's either mom or dad telling her that the moon is made of "green cheese". I could have never been that confused back then. Why the heck is it green when it's always yellow or orange? It took me about ten years to realise that "green cheese" doesn't literally mean green colour but "young cheese." Ah. All mystery solved. There are things in life that take you years and years to understand.

My bedroom at home is now dad's, though sometimes mum likes to have a nap in there as well.
I don't know if they notice, but from my bedroom window, you can see the moon very clearly, especially on a full moon night when the moon is as round as a tennis ball, so close you can almost squeeze it.
Mum, dad, if you have a chance to look at the moon, think of me. I'm looking at the same moon here in England.

I'm still practicing my photographing skill, trying this and that, discovering what my camera could do little by little.
To take this photo of the moon, I discovered by myself that I should set the exposure compensation very very low, so that the moonlight won't glow too much and the moon itself appears to be just a bright orange spot on a black background.
This might be the most basic knowledge for those professional photographers, but for me who have never had any lessons about photographing at all, this is considered to be quite a nice discovery.

See you when the sky is blue
